Preparing the FTP server

Please provide your own FTP server.

Installing MFT

Install MFT on smartphones with iOS 14 or later. MFT can be installed from the App Store.

Transfer settings

Adjust transfer settings after installing the application.

  1. Launch MFT.

  2. Tap the top right of the screen.

  3. Tap [Transfer destination settings].

  4. Select the FTP mode (FTP/FTPS/SFTP).

  5. Configure detailed settings.

Item Function
Server name Specifies the IP address or URL for the FTP/FTPS/SFTP server.
Port

Specifies the port number.
Turning [Default] to ON will set the protocol default values.

  • FTP: 21
  • FTPS: normal = 21, with [Implicit] set to ON = 990
  • SFTP: 22
Destination Folder Specifies the folder name on the FTP/FTPS/SFTP server where the transferred images are saved.
Turning [Create folder] to ON will create a folder automatically (requires folder creation permissions).
Username Specifies the user name used to log in to the FTP/FTPS/SFTP server. Turning [Anonymous] to ON will log in anonymously.
Password Specifies the password used to log in to the FTP/FTPS/SFTP server.
Overwrite Turning this to ON will overwrite any files with the same name that already exist in the destination folder.
Implicit(FTPS) When this is ON, the connection to the server will be in implicit mode.
When this is OFF, the connection to the server will be in explicit mode.
Passive Specifies passive mode.
Private key(SFTP)

When this is ON, you can use secret keys (locked files). Tap [Settings] and select the locked file already saved in the MFT folder.
Use the following process to save locked files in MFT folders.

  1. Launch the file app
  2. Tap [On My iPhone] → [Mobile File Transfer].
  3. Save the locked file
Preset

You can save setting details in [Transfer destination settings] and use them as the preset settings.

  • Select: Selects the preset.
  • Save: Saves the setting information as the preset.
  • Delete: Erases the preset.

Caution

  • We recommend using either FTP or SFTP for the communication protocol. When using FTP, content may be intercepted or the device may connect to an unintended server and presents a possibility of your user name, password, and file data leaking.

Connection settings

Use MFT to configure the connection settings.

  1. Tap the top right of the screen.

  2. Tap [Connection mode].

  3. Select the connection method.

    • Tap [OK].
    • Configure smartphone settings as well when selecting [Tethering]. ()
  4. Tap the top right of the screen.

Smartphone settings

Use the following settings when using a tethered connection.

  1. Tap [Settings] → [General] → [About] → [Name].

  2. Set the network name on the [Name] screen.

    • The network name will be displayed when connecting to the network.
  3. Tap [Settings] → [Personal Hotspot].

  4. Set [Allow Others to Join] to ON.

    • Tap [OK].
  5. Select [Wi-Fi Password] and set a password.

    • The specified password will be input when using a tethered connection.

Caution

  • Make sure that [Allow Others to Join] is set to OFF when not using MFT.
