Quick Start Guide

  1. Insert the battery ().

    • Upon purchase, charge the battery to start using ().
  2. Insert the card ().

    • Insert the card with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks into place.
  3. Turn the camera on ().

    • All the necessary camera settings are set automatically.
  4. Flip out the screen ().

    • When the date/time/zone setting screen is displayed, see Date/Time/Zone.
    • When the password setting screen is displayed, see Setting a Password.
    • After [Welcome] appears on the screen, follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to your smartphone ().

Recording movies

  1. Set the still photo shooting/movie recording switch to Movies and set the Mode dial to Scene Intelligent Auto (, ).

    • All the necessary camera settings are set automatically.
  2. Focus on the subject.

    • By default, [Autofocus: Movie Servo AF] is set to [Enable] so that the camera always keeps focusing ().
  3. Record the movie.

    • Press the movie shooting button to start recording a movie. You can also start recording a movie by tapping [Movie recording] on the screen.
    • [Focus indicatorREC] (1) is displayed in the upper right while movie recording is in progress, and a red frame appears around the screen.
    • Sound is recorded with the movie microphone (2).
    • To stop recording the movie, press the movie shooting button again. You can also stop recording a movie by tapping [Stop movie] on the screen.
  4. Review the recorded movie ().

    • Press the button.
    • Press Quick Control/Set twice.

Shooting still photos

  1. Set the still photo shooting/movie recording switch to ().

  2. Focus on the subject ().

    • A tracking frame [Tracking frame] for AF appears over any face detected.
    • Press the shutter button halfway, and the camera will focus on the subject.
  3. Take the picture ().

    • Press the shutter button completely to take the picture.
  4. Review the picture.

    • The image just captured will be displayed for approx. 2 sec. on the screen.
    • To display the image again, press the Playback button ().
