Troubleshooting

If DPP is not working correctly, refer to these troubleshooting tips.

Installation cannot be completed correctly

Windows

  • Install the application from an administrator account (by setting the current user to [Computer administrator] or [Administrator], for example). Installation without administrator rights is not possible. For details on using administrator accounts, refer to the computer documentation.

macOS

  • Installation is not possible unless an administrator account is used. Log in again using an administrator account. For details on logging in and using administrator accounts, refer to Macintosh and macOS documentation.

DPP is not working

  • DPP will not work correctly unless the computer meets the system requirements. Use DPP on a computer that meets the system requirements ().
  • DPP may not work correctly if other software is running. If so, exit any other applications.

The card reader does not detect the SD card

  • Depending on the card reader and computer OS used, SDXC cards may not be correctly detected. In this case, connect the camera to the computer with the interface cable, then import the images to the computer using EOS Utility.

Images are not displayed correctly

  • Images that are not supported by DPP are not displayed. (Thumbnails are displayed as [?].) Because a variety of JPEG and TIFF images are used in general, images other than Exif 2.2, 2.21, or 2.3-compliant JPEGs and other than Exif-compliant TIFFs may not to be displayed correctly ().

An editing recipe could not be pasted (applied) to another image

  • Recipes for RAW images and JPEG/TIFF images cannot be used interchangeably.

Colors look subdued when images are viewed in other software

  • JPEGs or TIFFs that were converted from RAW images after setting the RAW color space to an option other than sRGB (, ) and are subsequently viewed in software only supporting the sRGB color space will look subdued. In this case, try setting RAW image color space to sRGB before conversion to JPEG or TIFF.

Image colors as displayed do not match the colors as printed

  • The monitor may not be calibrated correctly, or a printing profile may not be set. Correctly calibrating the monitor and configuring the printer profile () can be useful in matching display and printing colors. With Canon printers, calibrating a monitor automatically configures the printer profile.

Batch-printing large numbers of images fails

  • High-volume batch-printing may stop in the middle of a job, or the images may not be printed. Reduce the number of images to print, or increase the RAM (memory) in your computer.
