Timer-Controlled Shooting

Two types of timer shooting are available, enabling automatic timed capture of one image or capture of specific quantities at specific intervals. Before bulb exposures, prepare the camera accordingly.

Timer Shooting

Enables automatic capture of one image after your specified time elapses.

  1. Display the capture window ().

  2. Click [Timer].

    • The [Timer shooting settings] window is displayed.
  3. In [Delay setting], enter the time to wait before shooting.

    • The range is 00:00–99:59, in one-second increments.
    • For bulb exposures, enter the exposure time in [Remote bulb shooting].
  4. Click [Start].

    • The camera shoots after your specified time elapses.

Remote Interval-Timer Shooting

EOS cameras other than EOS 5D Mark IVRP6D Mark II

Enables automatic capture of your specified number of shots at your specified interval.

  1. Display the capture window ().

  2. Click [Timer].

    • The [Timer shooting settings] window is displayed.
  3. Select [Remote interval timer shooting].

  4. Enter the shooting interval and number of shots.

    • The interval range is 00:05–99:59, in one-second increments.
    • The minimum number of shots is two. The number of shots available depends on the free space on your computer.
    • For bulb exposures, enter the exposure time in [Remote bulb shooting].
  5. Click [Start].

    • Your specified number of shots are taken, at your specified interval.

Caution

  • Depending on your computer, short intervals may not allow enough time for your computer to transfer and save the images, which may prevent shooting at your specified interval. If so, set a longer interval and try shooting again.

Note

  • The shooting mode cannot be changed when the [Timer shooting settings] dialog box is displayed.

    Set the shooting mode before displaying the [Timer shooting settings] dialog box.

  1. Display the capture window ().

  2. Click [Timer].

  3. Select a mode.

    • Choose from the following two modes.

      [Camera function] mode:

      This mode uses the camera's interval timer. Enables shooting at precise intervals. Short intervals are also supported. Moreover, you can operate the camera during interval timer shooting.

      [Computer control] mode:

      Computer-controlled interval timer shooting. Bulb shooting is also supported.

    • Click [Camera function] or [Computer control].
  4. Configure the settings as needed.

    • [Camera function] mode

      Enter the shooting interval and number of shots.

      • The interval range is 00:00:01–99:59:59, in one-second increments.
      • The number of shots can be set in a range of 01–99. Can also be set to 00 for unlimited shooting until the interval timer stops.
    • [Computer control] mode

      Configure the settings in this order.

      (1) Select [Remote interval timer shooting].

      (2) Enter the shooting interval and number of shots.

      • Enter a value in the range 00:05–99:59, in one-second increments.
      • The minimum number of shots is two. The number of shots available depends on the free space on your computer.
  5. Click [Start].

    • Shooting proceeds as configured.

Caution

  • Depending on your computer, short intervals in [Computer control] mode may not allow enough time for your computer to transfer and save the images, which may prevent shooting at your specified interval. If so, set a longer interval and try shooting again.
  • For precautions on [Camera function] mode, refer to the description of interval timer shooting in the instruction manual of the camera connected.

Note

  • The shooting mode cannot be changed when the [Timer shooting settings] dialog box is displayed.

    Set the shooting mode before displaying the [Timer shooting settings] dialog box.

  • To end interval timer shooting in progress: In [Camera function] mode, click [Stop] in the [Interval timer] dialog box.

    In [Computer control] mode, click [Cancel] in the [Timer shooting settings] dialog box.
