2-2 Servo AF Characteristics Case Manual
In [Case Manual], you can manually set the two servo AF characteristics parameters ([Tracking sensitivity] and [Accel./decel. tracking]).
[Tracking sensitivity] and [Accel./decel. tracking] parameters are manually set in [Case Manual].
Tracking sensitivity
[Tracking sensitivity] is a subject tracking setting for Servo AF when an obstacle cuts across the AF frame or when the subject slips out of the AF frame.
-
Locked on (-1): This setting is useful for when an obstacle momentarily appears in front of the subject and when the subject moves around quickly, making it easy for the subject to move out of the AF frame.
-2 is better than -1 for continually tracking your desired subject for a longer period of time, however, if the camera focuses on an unintended subject, it can take a bit of time to focus on the desired subject.
-
Responsive (+1): This setting follows user framing operations, and is useful for quickly focusing on the subject the AF frame locks onto, or switching from one subject to another.
+2 is better than +1 for improved responsiveness to differing subjects. On the other hand, it makes it easier for the camera to focus on unintended subjects.
Locked on
The camera continues to lock onto the subject in the background even when another player blocks it in the foreground.
Responsive
The camera responsively focuses on the subject in the foreground that moves into the AF frame.
Acceleration/deceleration tracking
[Accel./decel. tracking] is a subject tracking setting for situations with significant, instantaneous changes in speed, such as when the subject suddenly moves or stops.
-
-2/-1: This setting is best for subjects that move at a fairly constant speed (minimal speed changes).
Even at a setting of 0, this setting is effective when the focus is unstable due to slight movement of the subject or an obstacle in front of subject.
-
+2/+1: This setting is useful for subjects that suddenly move, suddenly change speed, or suddenly stop.
Even when the subject speed changes instantly and significantly, the camera continues to focus on the intended subject. For example, it helps prevent the camera from focusing behind the subject when an oncoming subject suddenly moves, and from focusing in front of the subject when it suddenly stops. +2 is better than +1 for tracking subjects that change speed significantly.
[+2] and [+1] are effective for subjects that suddenly change speed, such as street motorcycles.
Combining [Tracking sensitivity] and [Accel./decel. tracking]
Combining the [Tracking sensitivity] and [Accel./decel. tracking] parameters enables Servo AF characteristics similar to [Case 1] to [Case 4] on previous models.
Previous model settings | Tracking sensitivity | Acceleration/deceleration tracking | Setting |
---|---|---|---|
Case 1 | 0 | 0 | Highly versatile setting |
Case 2 | -1 | 0 | When an obstruction enters the frame or when the subject slips out of the AF frame |
Case 3 | +1 | +1 | For quickly focusing on a subject that suddenly appears |
Case 4 | 0 | +1 | When subjects suddenly change speed |
